Abstract Untreated sewage and industrial wastes from Faisalabad city are disposed to River Chenab through Chakbandi Main Drain (CMD). The present project is planned investigate the effects of this freshwater pollution on body fish Ictalurus punctatus. specimens species were collected upstream downstream entrance CMD into Chenab. Fish gills, liver, kidney muscles dorsolateral regions subjected histopathology. Farmed areas used as control. polluted experimental sites showed significant damage in selected organs. Gill tissues an abnormality form uplifting primary epithelium, fusion, vacuolation, hypertrophy, necrosis. While liver hepatocytes degeneration, necrosis, mitochondrial granular hepatocyte, sinusoids dilation. Kidney indicated increased bowmen space constricted glomerulus degenerated nephrons. Edema, atrophy observed muscle areas. area fused gill lamellae, inflammatory cell infiltration, hypertrophy vacuolation hepatocytes. presence nuclear tubular cells, destructive renal tubules, hemorrhage, necrosis at epithelium. Intra myofibril spaces also muscles. Specimens control no variation kidney, study revealed a strong correlation between degree tissue environmental contamination. Present findings compel global warnings protect our water bodies rescue human population.
